ACQUITTED BY MIRRORS
Acquitted by Mirrors was a club set up by Bill and his former manager Mark Rye. At one time the club had nearly 2000 members. The magazine, started in 1982, lasted until 1990. It only was published with any regularity between 1982 and 1985. Seven club-only 7" EPs and one compact disc were distributed.
The magazine was mostly authored by Bill's manager, Mark Rye. The exception was ABM 15, where it appears that two people interviewed Bill in late 1989, and this became the final issue in 1990. Usually Bill would write a short note at the beginning of each issue and would provide photographs from his "archive".

There was no sixteenth issue of Acquitted by Mirrors to fulfill members' subscriptions. Instead, members were polled as to whether they wanted a cassette or a compact disc of the unreleased Simplex at an additional cost. Practically everybody chose compact disc, which was good since the offer of the cassette was a "clerical error" and none were created. 299 of the 995 compact discs of Simplex initially pressed were distributed to club members. |
