Caliban and the Chrome Harmonium (The Piano and Vibraphone Variations)
This is not an "official" release, it is a "Custom Culture Edition for Almost Opaque Records", a heretofore unknown label. Rather, it's a CD-R that Bill and Jon Wallinger put together for the Nelsonica '01 convention. Bill also made additional copies to thank those fans who participated in the purchase of Bill's old studio equipment. Having heard this CD i lament that Bill has no plans to go wide release with it. Its another Piano and Keyboards album, full of lighter and more "pop" tunes than Simplex.

Store
Weird Critters was re-released as a single album in the UK on July 14, 1998 on Resurgence (POPU001CD)

Magnificent Dream People (POPU002CD)
"One is totally instrumental and has a lot of 24-track recordings, including some solo piano pieces and some more elaborate works. The 'Weird Critters' album has a combination of vocal and instrumental pieces, all from my home studio. It's a very eclectic collection, but it's not like a four album box set where it's daunting and takes ages to absorb. I feel this album is a little more immediate. I've also made some colour collages for the artwork." - Bill Nelson, November 1996

Simplex
UK: compact disc on Cocteau JCD 23 in late 1990.
995 copies pressed for the Cocteau label in 1990, 299 of them distributed to Acquitted by
Mirrors members in late 1990 to early 1991. The remaining CDs were sent to See For Miles
Records LTD but never released.
Simplex was music done as a "first draft" for a British TV film on sculptor Henry Moore. It was planned on being released but didn't make it as Cocteau Records was falling apart and Enigma had gone bust in the US. The documentary for which Bill Nelson composed the music subsequently released as 'Simplex' is called 'Henry Moore and Landscape'. It was originally intended for release on Cocteau JC23 (UK) and Enigma/Cocteau (US). According to Court records during Bill's lawsuit against Mark Rye, 995 copies were pressed for the Cocteau label in 1990, 299 of them distributed to Acquitted by Mirrors members in late 1990 to early 1991. (Originally ABM club members were asked whether they wanted a cassette or compact disc, but according to court records the cassette idea was a "typo" and none were ever pressed.) The remaining CDs were allegedly sent to the label See For Miles Records LTD. Whatever actually happened to the remaining CDs is speculation at this point. People have found copies for sale all over the world. Bill says he considers all copies of this album to be bootlegs and he has yet to receive any royalties from its sale. He discourages any fan from buying it. This album will eventually be properly released.

In 1981 and 1983, I organised a series of live performances under the general title of The Invisibility Exhibition. This event toured throughout Great Britain and included contributions from the Yorkshire Actors Company, Richard Jobson, Frank Chickens and David Claridge as well as myself and Ian Nelson. Besides theatre, poetry, mime, and musical performances, there were eight TV screens and one large movie screen on which were shown films by Jean Cocteau and Man Ray. My own musical contribution included live improvisation of guitar, percussion and synthesizer over pre-recorded tapes from the archives of the Echo Observatory. Chamber of Dreams presents two facets of this event. Tracks 1-9 is a selection of the 'backing tapes' which were used as a basis for my performance. They are presented here in their virgin state without any live improvisation. Musicians owning this album might enjoy sketiching their own ideas over these tracks in the privacy of their own home. Tracks 10-18 represents a selection of the interval music which was played between the various performances during the Exhibition itself. These are complete and were not intended as part of the improvisational work. For those who attended the performances, this record is intended as a souvenir for the ear. For those who missed the Invisibility Exhibition perhaps Chamber of Dreams will make you curious enough to attend the next one. - W. Nelson '84
