Electrical Language
The free emailzine for fans of Bill Nelson

Over 1800 subscribers!

The Electrical Language free email magazine is a service of the Permanent Flame web site.  It was started on March 9, 1998 at ListBot.  On June 22, 2001 Electrical Language moved to Yahoo Groups since Microsoft decided to shut down the free ListBot service.

The mission of the e-zine is to keep fans informed about web site updates, future releases and re-releases by Bill, live appearances, magazine interviews, internet chats, rarities on Ebay, and sales on various Bill Nelson CDs.

The e-zine will also mention various affiliates and contemporaries (e.g. David Sylvian, Harold Budd, Roger Eno, Nautilus Pompilius, Kate St. John, Laraaji, John Leckie) when newsworthy.

Every two weeks or so I put out an e-zine which is usually about the equivalent of one or two printed pages.  If something important comes along, like the announcement of a release of an album or a live date, I'll send a "Special Announcement" to alert fans.

There are times in which you may get "unsubscribed" from the mailing list.  This is always due to mail being bounced back.  Whenever an Electrical Language goes out there will be a blurb on the What's New page of the Bill Nelson web site.

Electrical Language is written by Permanent Flame website author Chuck Bird.  You won't get any "spam" by signing up.  The mailing list is administered by Chuck Bird.

Here's what subscribers say about Electrical Language:

"Thanks for the info about the newly found [in August 1999] copies of My Secret Studio [Volume 1, released in 1995, out of print since 1997].  I came back from vacation to find your newsletter.  My first thought was that I 'd probably be too late to get a copy. However, it came in the post yesterday - fantastic. Christmas was early this year!"

"On a steamy hot Sunday afternoon, wandering the web taking care of  miscellaneous business -- like ordering Atomic Shop merchandise -- and I have  to once again tell you how much I enjoy the site you have built. Not only to I find it to be easy to use, but I am in HEAVEN being able to wallow in Nelsonian joy in a site devoted to my musical favorite. "

"I very much enjoy the web site and of course the updates. It is very exciting to hear that Bill is appearing live again. How long has it been?......"

"if it were not for your excellent updates we may have never had the chance to catch [Bill Nelson at] the [Festival of Drifting, Queen Elizabeth Hall, September 25] show (let alone get central 3rd row seats)."

"Thanks for all of your hard work. We Nelsonians REALLY REALLY appreciate it. Endless Orchids..."

"As this is my first time of writing, may I take this opportunity to say what a great job you do in updating the rest of us with much needed information."

"I just want to let you know (and all your sources) how much I appreciate your efforts to keep us isolated Nelsonians in the know about Mr. Bill and related information.  It took me some time to find the website (a friend in CA found it), but it has been a treasure trove of info, and it feels wonderful to be linked to others who admire Bill's work as much as I do."

"I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your hard work! I've been a Be-Bop fan since the early seventies and truly believe that Bill is a musical genius.  Thanks again!"

"Just wanted to say that I really enjoy these updates and the info that they provide. You're doing a great job!! I took a chance on and ordered from the Musikweb site that you had told us about in a previous update. I picked up a copy of each Bill Nelson cassette and LP that they had listed. For $36, I ended up with 13 cassettes , 1 double LP and 2 single LPs. They're in great shape and sound excellent!!! Being in the corner of southeastern Pennsylvannia, I could never find much of Bill's post Be Bop Deluxe releases. The Department stores and record shops around here, for the last 15 years or so, only carried main stream music with very few imports.so I have alot of catching up to do, but it's worth it. Once again, great job and I look forward to each new update."
