To everyone who contributed their time and love to "Multiplex - Our Secret Studios"...
I've just finished listening to the whole album after being presented with it by Stewart Gray and I felt that I should try and express my feelings.
First of all, I'm simply overwhelmed by the obvious care and passion that everyone has invested in the album. My initial reaction, when I was first informed of the project, was sheer amazement, shock even, that anyone would want to make a tribute album for me. But the real surprise is how good the various contributions are and, my, oh, my, how many excellent guitar players there are amongst you! I thought that the standard of guitar work on the album was uniformly high throughout, what a clever lot you are!
I don't think it would be fair for me to single out individual contributions above others, (though I have my favourites) as it's clear that the same intense passion went into the making of all the tracks, regardless of recording technicalities etc. Let me just say that I'm blown away by it all and deeply touched by your devotion to my music. Thank you all, very, very much, from the bottom of my heart.
I do think it is fair, however, to offer special praise to Mr Chuck Bird for his energy and imagination in dreaming up the project in the first place and for his talent in co-ordinating the whole thing. Also, a special thanks to Mark Rushton for making the Bill Nelson website such a success and for it being such an important component in the realisation of this particular project.
Also, thanks, to Stewart Gray, who traveled all the way from Brighton to Yorkshire to present me with the album and who generously paid for lunch! What's it like being fifty? Terrible.....but your kindness in making this album has helped lift the clouds from the mountain for a while.
God Bless You All,
Bill Nelson
