Loved Pete.
There rarely seems to be mention of Pete's third (proper) solo album,
Heaven and the Sea, which I loved. Some great stuff on there and certainly one of the best
dressed albums ever! I saw him on the tour for that album (supported by Sandie Shaw!) Good stuff.
Also went to see him on the
Homosapien tour at a gay club in Brum. Something of an eye opener for 17-year-old me. Unfortunately, the police raided the club ('drugs' we were told...) shortly before the set and we were all turfed out into the February rain.
I last night discovered that he'd released a solo album before
Homosapien. Recorded in 1974, but not released until 1980,
Sky Zen was described by Mr Shelley as "great for clearing the house at parties." Forty minutes of wailing drones. It's on Spotify if you feel in need of penance. No, don't thank me...
Let us not forget the Bill connection here: both were Invisible Girls on John Cooper Clark's
Disguise in Love. Any memories of those sessions you'd care to share, Bill?
