Hi Guys

Thanks for all extra info supllied on Be Bop Tour Dates. Couple of queries that you might be able to help with.

Someone told me that BBD supported Rick Wakeman and Foghat in San Diego. Anybody with any memory of this?

Also I've been told BBD appeared on a bill with Van Halen, but can't confirm.

Finally, I found a date from the UK. 12/12/1975 Be Bop Deluxe - North London Poly. Support from Mickey Jupp & 101ers. Now as we all know the 101ers featured young Joe Strummer (or was it John "Woody" Mellor?) as a front man. Bill, any memories?

I do remember the 101ers supporting us but can't recall any details other than I thought they were good but a bit 'retro.'

Great work- if this was a just and fair universe I would have somehow been at the 06 Dec 1976 Calderone Theatre, Hempstead show with Rory Gallagher...two of my inspirational guitar faves on the same bill albeit working different sides of the musical street . ( And Im ashamed to say that as rooted in that era as I am, I've never even heard of Wiggy Bits)

The 50s were always a big influence on Joe's sound and style, his music and image, his 'look' right the way through his career...he was a real cool cat.. 8)

..and Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros (I was fortunate enough to see them several times), simply ripped it up..one of the best live bands I've ever seen.. 8)

...sorry for the (mini) thread hijack...ok, back to Be-Bop.. :D

A While Keef 1959 was compiling Be Bop Deluxe Tour Dates and came up with a GREAT text of the Stateside tours of BBD 76-78

Your Reply was along the lines of.. ''There never could be a Definitive BBD Tour Date list''

Can you help us with your BBD little black book references?

as they appeared In the ''Practice Of Everyday Life'' Booklet pages?

you can see there are obscured dates panning over 2 distinct periods of 72/73!

Eight dates in all ,one is revealed in Paul Sutton Reeves ''Music'' book Richard Brown's last gig at the Duke December 22nd 1972

If your little Black book is accessible, can you fill in the blanks PLEASE :)

The early gig info from your meticulous little black book is i think unique to you.... AS NO ONE ELSE ON EARTH HAS IT !!

Apologies...I'm so extremely busy at the moment with preparations for my rapidly approaching Hepworth concert, plus video making, working with Reeves Gabrels, contributing to a Unity Hall documentary film and planning upcoming album releases that I just can't drop everything to search for the notebook and details you requested. I'll try to come back to it in the months ahead if time allows. Thanks for understanding. :)

Hi Guys

Great stuff on the early diary entries for BBD gigs.

Looking at the dates I have already from the Music In Dreamland book and other sources, I think the missing gigs from 1972 could be:

The Cat’s Whiskers, Burnley
The Dearne Hotel, Bolton-on-Dearne
Clarence’s Roxy Club, Halifax

Three of the five 1973 missing gigs are:

13 Jan 1973 Wakefield Technical & Art College
03 Feb 1973 Duke of Cumberland, North Ferriby
15 Feb 1973 The Magnet Hotel, Airedale

Looking at the diary, one of the two still missing appears to be in /or near Halifax. Which could make it another gig at Clarences Roxy Club I guess.

We'll have to wait till Bill gets that five minutes to dig out his diary to be 100% sure.

Honestly Bill, what do you do all day?
