As we have now totally hijacked the original thread post, here's the intro preamble to The Electricity Bill by The Scaramanga Six involving some chatter, two false starts and an insult before finally getting going:

The Roy Wood b-side, Music To Commit Suicide By, has a 1-2-3, 1-2-3 count at the beginning.

A brilliant track that stands out among Roy's many brilliant tracks .

That's none other than bassist Rick Price delivering that count-in .

The title was deemed far too intense for the US market and was changed to 'Woodbe' for us sensitive peope over here ... and, yes, speaking from the perspective of a USA person, I can unequivocally state that 'Woodbe' is the better title ! By a mile .

Is "woodbe" a slang term in the UK ?

Went on fruitless search to find the answer to this question not long ago .

The reason I ask of course is there also exists that track by Scritti Politti called 'Wood Beez (Pray Like Aretha Franklin)', which is one of my faves of theirs .

Not that I know of.

Could it be that the record company decided that the name had to change, referred to it as "Wood B" - i.e. the B-side of Roy Wood's single - and then never found another name?

Good point that must be it or something similar .

I was stuck in the wood bee / would be play on words because of that SP track and never even thought of RW’s actual surname .
