I've never played through a Carlsboro. What are they like, are they clean, high headroom or do they break up easily and compress....just curious.

The picture below is from the Plectronica intermission slideshow of pics of Bill's career. The pics are in chronological order, and this one is surrounded by pics of BBD playing live, following earlier pics of "Drastic Plastic" being recorded. So, assuming it's in the correct place, then it's from 1978.

If there was only size of stencil, then whatever Bill is sitting on is pretty close in size to your amp.

You beat me to it 'Perfect Monster' - I was just about to post the very same picture - those amps certainly look like a pretty good match!

Jon.

I had a poster of Be Bop and I think Andy Clark used HH.
I used HH and remember the pods made a terrible noise after a while. ( could have been my playing though) :|

Always impressed by the historical knowledge on this forum. It's muddied the waters slightly - but in a good way. I think there may be some edge lines in the pic that aren't on my amp so the definitive still stands so far. Cheers again all.

I'm not sitting on a Carlsboro amp, (I wouldn't stencil 'Be Bop Deluxe' on it like that.) I think it's just a flight case or something.

Good enough for me and thanks again. I shall proceed with the restoration. All the best.

Pardon my ignorance but the model of the combo amp is a dead giveaway surely? 'Fender Musicmaster Bass' :)

You'd think so, yes.

In fact many people thought that it was crap for bass, but a good small amp for six-string guitar.

The Fender Bassman was a bigger, louder amp, and it too ended up being used for guitar and other instruments, in addition to bass.

My reference to HH was that the question was “BeBop Deluxe Amplification” so I was referring to the keyboards being HH amps in the poster I had. I think they were anyway.
