Quite like the character who’s delivering the vocal in “Bugging Me” (Track 11 on the Bandcamp version of “Auditoria”) .

He seems to wobble .

Has quite a bounce .

Well, alec, some things do tend to bug me, despite my best intentions to transcend any annoyance. But putting those feelings into a song is one way of neutering their impact.

Love that one!

Also Bill... I may be a late comer but there is no doubt in my mind about why you have such a rabidly devoted fan base. You reaffirm that to me with a simple sentence. So human and yet so above the petty, ugly unthinking shades which assail me daily. You can take even annoyance and turn it into art. You are the best of us Bill, and no matter where life takes me I can only hope that I come to reside where you now occupy.

Is it intellectual? Is it spiritual? Is this wisdom? I want it for myself someday! Come what may.

Bill,

Just been dyin' to ask you this.

Bugging Me starts out with the line 'Big noise from another world' ...

My parents used to sing a song called Big Noise from Winnetka that had this strange whistling in it and a sort of Gene Krupa drum pattern at a certain point .

Always thought it was pretty out there for Liz & Dave [my parents] .

Their tastes were kinda quirky though, I guess, now that I think about it, what with Tom Lehrer, Spike Jones and Stanley Holloway often on the turn table .

But apparently Big Noise from Winnetka was a big hit around 1939/1940 .

So ... maybe your parents sang this song as well ?

Here's the Pop version with full big band and vocals [nice film to go with it] :

Here's the version with just drums, stand-up bass and whistling [Bobby Haggart and Ray Bauduc, another nice bit of film] :
