Oh my that was good! He did play an AP song as an encore and bloody good it was too. Won’t spoil it by revealing its identity as others here are going. You will enjoy it. Oh, bumped into and had a brief chat with Iain Lee...nice chap.

pics from last weeks trip with a mate to Swindon to see TC&I and head out on an XTC tour of Swindon

Image
I was suitably attired for the day

Image
the guided tour begins

Image
This was once a venue called The Affair where the band played in the early days, now a popular drunk magnet

Image
how amazing was it that right opposite was a band related hairdressers! (now closed)

Image
OK it's a Morrisons now but it was once a college where the band met!

Image
ex band guitarist Dave Gregory lived here once, blinds probably now permanently drawn due to XTC fans hanging around outside

Image
this is where the band bought many of their early instruments and records

Image
plenty of axes inside

Image
the shop owner has this skin signed by drummer Terry

Image
the first house on the end was where the band recorded scenes for the video for Love On A Farmboy's Wages

Image
ate before the show and this was the local pub menu, and yes it was delish!

Image
support act George Wilding

Image
a sneakily taken (ie rubbish pic) of the band doing Making Plans For Nigel

Image
how appropriate that we should be behind this car as we left Swindon

Fantastic photographs, HG .

Cool that bass drum with the note from TC .

Don't remember anything besides outdoor scenes from 'Love On A Farmboy's Wages' promo ... but those structures do look familiar so maybe it's from that ? Will have to look again .

Were those badges on your lapel from the gig ?

This particular images makes Swindon look like many modern shapes made of bricks .

I envy the rain .

thanks Alec, yes they are the set I bought when I last saw them at Hammersmith Odeon in 1981 on the Black Sea Tour
I had so many folks coming up to me before and after the show asking about them - no, they're not for sale haha!

I remember someone wearing those when I was in high school but maybe it was someone I saw performing n a band, on a stage, who was wearing them . Had a few different XTC badges but not those and, if I recall correctly, I wanted them to the point of something resembling envy .

did you spot them on the cover? it seems many folks hadn't even after 36 years,
as they were coming up to me saying "OMG I have JUST realized!"

Has got to be in tribute to Sergeant Pepper's and Their Satanic Majesty's in the hidden-surprises-in-the-cover-art tradition .

Anyway, thanks for pointing it out . I'm one of those who never noticed .
