... that George Harrison's song title "It's All Too Much" actually came from a letter written by Brian Epstein from his first attempt to commit suicide in 1966?

... that YMO may be the most successful supergroup in history. This quote really resonated: "Meanwhile, Yukihiro Takahashi has released 26 solo albums from 1978 to now, and he’s actually the group’s least productive member (this, of course, does not count the half-dozen bands he’s been in since then)."

Dialling 999
Sometimes, when a person calls 999, talking might put them in danger. It's a terrifying thought, but being prepared for every eventuality is the best way to be safe.

If the person dialling the emergency services can't speak, the operator will ask them to make a noise without actually speaking, or tap their phone.

If the operator still hears no response, it’ll be assumed the call was accidental and it won’t be investigated further.

But sometimes, it isn't a pocket-dial.

In the case of an intruder, for example, making any noise could potentially put someone in further danger.

If making any noise could put a caller at risk, there’s a third option that will ensure help is dispatched.

If you ever find yourself in a situation where you need to call for emergency help without making a noise, call 999, then dial 55 when you get through to the switchboard.

The procedure is called “Silent Solutions". It’s not something many people are aware of - but remembering it could save your life.

'Tainted Love' by Soft Cell was released nearer to the end of the Second World War than to today. #MorningEveryone

Yes. We're well down the road now. Even the original version written in 1964 doesn't seem as ancient as time dictates. We just don't live long enough to challenge the apparent eternity which we inhabit for less than the blink of an eye. Sometimes we hardly seem worth it.

There we go. Starting to get that old warm feeling in the stomach again. :D

In 1859, the famous Scottish explorer and abolitionist Dr. David Livingstone built a church in Malawi (Tanzania) on the shore of the giant fresh-water inland sea now known as Lake Nyasa. Gazing upon the lake for the first time, he asked the locals, pointing out at the lake, "What do you call that?". They responded, "Nyasa". He then proclaimed it to be known as 'Lake Nyasa'. Thing is, Nyasa is the local's word for lake. He chose to ignore the lake's perfectly good name, Nyinyesi, or Lake of The Stars.

The term "cartoon" to refer to comic drawings was first used in Punch in 1843, when the Houses of Parliament were to be decorated with murals, and "cartoons" for the mural were displayed for the public; the term "cartoon" then meant a finished preliminary sketch on a large piece of cardboard, or cartone in Italian. Punch humorously appropriated the term to refer to its political cartoons, and the popularity of the Punch cartoons led to the term's widespread use.
