Just heard that Cape Fear River has quadrupled in size in the last 2 days and is now 60 ft [18.288 m] deep and rising, in Cumberland County, Fayetteville, NC .

Maybe those of us in VA, NC, SC, FL, etc. should learn from the people who build dwelling places on stilts [Kamchatka, Myanmar, Alaska, Chile, Laos, Philippines, Maldives, Thailand, Indonesia, et al]?

Unless the exchange rate with the UK has changed.

Kansas City has freezing rain, sleet, snow, ice, high wind, ice and thunderstorms. Did I mention ice?

Here we got a terrible blue sky, sick 27c, and nauseating light breeze off the Caribbean. Hard times.... 8)

Good news: above freezing for the first time in days.

Bad news: water is out. Apparently a water main break a few blocks to the north.

Speaking as an old public works guy, working on a water break in freezing weather, certainly makes you appreciate the heroes in the trenches. I am telling you, it is miserable. :|
