"American Stamps is a visually compelling thirty-minute documentary about the designers and artists who create our postage stamps. Supported by a soundtrack composed by acclaimed guitar virtuoso and art rock legend Bill Nelson, the program provides a behind-the-scenes look at how stamps are conceptualized, designed and produced."

Remember reading about this in Bill's diary a while back... glad it's coming out finally. Never got to see the program on my local Public Television Channel, though.

the enigmatic Hawaiian- spice-guitar flavors added to some recent tracks is apparently still on the menu , airmailed by a beach hut beauty from the surf king ... and I think of what Jimi Hendrix sang "...and we'll never hear surf music again ..." and I think that, on the shores of a cosmic sea somewhere, he's listening to Picture Post , and smiling , maybe jamming along

Looks like you're making this a low key release ? or have I missed any posts about it. We usually get some enthusiastic info from Bill and a new CD.
Yours rather baffled :?

No, not low key...I have written about the album a while ago on the forum and mentioned how beautiful it sounds and how it stands up as a cohesive work in its own right despite being created as a 'made-to-measure' soundtrack for the documentary film 'American Stamps.' I think I also said that it would very much appeal to those fans who enjoy my keyboard and piano-based albums, (which is not to say that 'Picture Post' is not without some very nice guitar moments!)
I mastered the album some time ago and recorded the music even futher back but it has had to wait its turn in the queue of releases. I'd originally planned to release it alongside another album but releasing albums in pairs has proved uneconomical and so I've returned to a 'one-at-a-time' approach and with the option to leave longer intervals between releases. Consequently, 'Picture Post' has become the first album release of 2010 for me. And , in case the Soundcloud thing has confused anyone, 'Picture Post' IS a physical CD album, NOT a download. Soundcloud is simply being used so that you can sample a few more excerpts from the tracks than usual. :)

Ordered it and can hardly wait. The clips sound divine. Enjoyed the music while watching the show and can now hear it in all it's glory.

i'm really glad bill has finally made this music available. as 1/2 of the filmmaking team that put the doc together, i've had these tracks on my ipod for a few years now and they always remind me what a great choice we made in bill as composer.
