Thanks, asterisk
eti stands for "extra terrestrial intelligence," or so I'd like to think.
Became a fan of Bill Nelson's in the '80s. I'm a guitar player, singer, composer of sorts.
Back in the day, I was lucky enough to meet Paul Reynolds of A Flock Of Seagulls when they
first toured the US. He mentioned Bill Nelson as being a big influence on his playing. Vistamix
started getting airplay here not too long after. I saw Bill on the Vistamix tour and he made a
profound impression. In particular I recall his encore; just him and a guitar, playing wildly, detuning
strings, taking out his frustration with the awful electricity in the place (literally; you could hear
country music coming out of the amplifiers at any quiet moment). It was the singularly most amazing
guitar performance I'd ever seen. Did he/does he do that often?
During the '80s I would buy anything I found that had his name on it (Red Noise, soundtracks,
Northern Dream, etc.) In the early '90s I (finally) discovered Be Bop Deluxe, and continued buying anything
Bill Nelson related that came past my radar. I'm relatively out-of-touch with new music these days,
but maybe being here will help me keep up, or catch up, with Bill's music.
Thanks for the warm welcomes
