Weather Alert.

UPDATE 8:40 FRI

The Park Inn is open and access is good from most directions. There are still parts of York under water which may cause other hotels and guest houses to be closed.

UPDATE 13:45 THURS

Further to what is stated below.
The Park Inn report the water has peaked and all is well. Roads to the hotel are open as are pavements for those walking from the train station.
However, other hotels around the city are affected so please check with your own accommodation.
I'll update this post if anything changes.

------------------------------------
Posted earlier today:
Bill has asked me to inform you that should the river level in York continue to cause problems we have a 'Plan B'.

We would usually load in the band gear and PA system on Friday with the final soundcheck on Saturday morning. Doors usually open at 1pm.
If we can not access the Park Inn until Saturday morning, we will still go ahead but delay the start of the event, probably until 3pm.

Please keep an eye on this topic thread for updates.

Regards
Paul.

I've just spoken to a member of the management at the Queen's Hotel, which is situated riverside.......

For the Queen's hotel the final decision as to whether they will be open or not tomorrow will come from the environmental officer at 3pm today. The personal feeling of the person I spoke to was that they were fairly confident they would be open for business tomorrow but they obviously could not confirm.

I believe the flooding situation at the Queen's is worse than it is at the Park Inn, so there are reasons to remain positive.

Local news reports that the flood gates have held fast so far..........

I have also just phoned the Park Inn and they are glad to report they are having no problems at all and that the water level is dropping rapidly already :)

Obviously I cannot speak for the Nelsonica team's travelling issues - but fingers crossed

Again, the people I've spoken to at riverside are reporting a more optimistic situation

If the environmental officer declares the Queen's hotel unfit for opening - there may be a Scotsman and 3 Welshmen looking for floor space on someone else's floor.......seriously!

Fingers crossed!! :|

If it means anything, sitting here at 6am watching the BBC. Saw a test drive on an airfield near York. Clear blue skies and sunshine.
