Hi there,

It was when I saw the cover picture for Dreamshire, that the penny dropped for the Bradbury connection. I have just read The Martian Chronicles & that cover picture of Dreamshire could suit a cover for Bradbury's book.

I'm not as enlightened on Bradbury's work to notice the other subtle references, but I will now track down 'Something Wicked This Way Comes" which sounds an intriguing read. Thanks for the tip Bill.

TaTa :)

I've only listened to disc 1 so far. I like it a lot. Dare I say it, but this is the collection that I'd really been waiting for and not known it. I mistakenly thought that The Joy Of Amplification was the one I was hoping for. No, as good as that CD is, in it's own loud and hard edged way, The Dreamshire Chronicles is the one. This is a CD that sits nicely with Whimsey and Clocks and Dials and The Alchemical Adventures Of Sailor Bill in my huge collection of your music Bill. Very pleasing artwork too.
I'm now looking forward to your next well thought out masterpiece. Grand Auditoria
Just one little niggle . . . please could you place your vocals a bit higher in the mix. Your voice is worth hearing. Apart from that, I'd say it was pretty much a classic. :D

I actually thought the vocal was higher in the mix, on this album in general.

I should be receiving my copy of this CD in the next couple of days, but I am already disappointed that the vocals are mixed too low again.

Felix I hope you are right. I have been one of the whiners who thinks Bill needs to mix his vocals in at a higher volume. I know Bill is happy where they are at; the artist makes the ultimate decision.

I will let you all know what I think after having the cd(s) in my hands for a couple of weeks.

Oh dear, I'm very sorry . . . . . .I retract what I said earlier about the vocals not being prominent enough in the mix . . they are louder in the mix this time. I mustn't have been listening properly  . I've now listened to disc 2 . . . and disc 1 again. This CD is a real grower . . . :D
by the way, the listening notes are good.

Very much enjoying The Dreamshire Chronicles! A reliable source of all the intriguing coming and goings of Dreamshire i'm sure. Where can I subscribe?

I have found that most artists over the years tend to err on the side of keeping their vocals lower in the mix than personally I would like. This only really becomes an issue for me with those that have something to say and whose lyrics are important to me. Yes, I would've preferred Bill's a little higher, because his voice is just as much an instrument as his guitar and he has something to say, but it is all subjective isn't it? where do we stop? There is only 100% of sound and everything has to fit in the sonic picture somewhere. You start with all your faders at zero then the bass player can't hear himself, so that gets tweaked, all of a sudden, where have the keyboards gone? so up they go and before you know it everything is full up and you are back to the beginning. As someone said, as long as the artist is happy with it and I agree' It is their creation and in Bill's case solely, nobody else. Bill is as we know highly skilled and multi-talented and as a producer is second to none. I wonder if the "vocal in the mix" debate has something to do with artists/producers not wanting it to sound like an overdub?

Anyway, bearing in mind the demographics of this group, I understand Bill is considering giving away a free ear-trumpet with his next release.
