It will be sad day for authors and musicians if the re-selling of digital products is made legal. There's a big difference between selling a second-hand 'physical' book and re-selling a digital file of the same book. In effect, the re-seller has retained the original and is merely producing digital copies of it to sell for personal profit. It's not like you're parting with anything, or that the buyer is getting a slightly worn, pre-handled physical item. There is, in technical terms, no difference between the digital original and a digital copy, and it could be copied over and over and re-sold. With an original physical item you can only sell it once...with a digital item you can clone it endlessly.
It effectively amounts to illegally manufacturing material which is copyrighted to the work's originators or publishers. If that became legally acceptable, all kinds of knock on negative effects would follow. It would be utter madness, in my opinion, and extremely harmful to those of us who attempt to eke a living from our creative work.

Do such downloads include all the cover art and sleeve notes ?

The download does indeed contain all of the cover artwork and disc label.

It's based on the high-resolution print artwork files we sent to the pressing plant for the original release.
The only difference is that we've added the words 'Digital Download Release' to distinguish it from the original and stop people pirating them and selling them off on eBay.

There is a LOT to be said of the new Medium vs the Old. I work in the tv and film industry and this battle is right up front. It's probably too much to mention here.

I personally prefer the new, when in lossless form FLAC.

I understand the need/desire to collect but, view it ultimately as a losing gamble. I prefer to enjoy the WORK no matter what medium I consume it in. Bill is a bit of a edge case as he designs the artwork and such. You are getting a package of his work, which does add value, not $value$, to the listening experience. This is even more true if you go about it the old fashion way of sitting in a comfy chair with headphones on and pouring over liner notes. Truth be told how many of us do that on a regular basis?

I listen to bill in the car, at work, and often as I drift off to sleep.

I am a staunch supporter of him and his art! (and his right to earn money from it) That said I do wish there were more albums available in a downloadable form. I know most of us would purchase just to support. Not sure of Bill's day to day economics and the people he has in place to help with this. But, I have seen the independent musician model work for scores of folks. (a lot of that is supported by touring however)

I am buying btw...glad to have it!

And I'm going to hope for "The Romance of Sustain".

Bill, feel free to add the ABM singles to Bandcamp anytime you like :)

I also prefer FLAC - many people have setups to stream FLAC through their home stereo, and it's very convenient when controlled from an iPad or computer.

On the second point - while I like the convenience of digital files, I do like to have liner notes, etc. But the collectability issue -- I couldn't care less. It is the work that's important. And to this point, I would encourage Mr. Nelson to reissue otherwise unobtainable works as digital downloads. While I enjoy having a copy of "Last of The Neon Cynics" as a CD, I would like _everyone_ who might enjoy it to be able to hear it. The same goes for 'Clocks & Dials' - I'm sure there are people who couldn't get it when it was originally out - and I think these people deserve a chance to hear it.

Sorry to get on the soapbox here, so I'll stop now...
