Really? That was Dar. Apparently someone would like us to think so.

Here is a pictorial review with a few short words:

The Nelsonic Frog just prior to leaving Scotland:
Image

Our Batrachian friend arrives at The Corner Pin......but who is that the Panamanian Golden Frog is entertaining with it's own version of The Blossom Tree Optimists?
Image

Why, it's Alan Cawthorne and Mr. Mercury :o :P
Image
Captions on a postcard please...........

It is at this point I'm afraid my cheap but so far trusty camera finally gave up the ghost

No worries - Sauropod came to the rescue :D 8)

Mr. Mercury and I awoke from our drunken stupor (obviously achieved in The Corner Pin)..... in our plush( :P ) Premier Inn suite at the not unreasonably early hour of 8am on the morning of Nelsonica...........merely several minutes later our first message from Big Al Cawthorne arrived:

"Do you fancy a sharpener? Me and Mal are in the bar like......."

Mr. Mercury and I thought it best to perhaps eat some breakfast first and go and check out the Minster for some fresh air...........

We then bumped into Geoff(Swan) and his lovely wife Karen.....at which point we received our second message from Cawthorne:

"We're in Yeats bar across the river from the Park!" :o

We realised it was futile trying to ignore Big Al's attempt to lure us into the bar and so we acquiesced but thought we would be clever and only have a soft drink.......

We arrived at Yeats to find Big Al, Mal, Cooky (Peter Cook) and Fraser had already established camp at a table in the bar. The waitresses were all wearing Where's Wally? outfits  This generally meant they wore shorts/short skirts and knee length stockings.........but I digress

Cawthorne insisted on buying us a drink but I was too clever for that.....I asked for a Ginger Beer

Cawthorne brought back a Crabbies Alcoholic Ginger Beer

Next thing I know I'm in the queue for Nelsonica with a pint of Magner's in my hand whilst Mr. Mercury was still clutching his sensible bottle of water

The stage awaits.......

Andy Newlove gets Bill's guitars ready for the solo set

Bill does some tweaking......very stylish the boss, is he not? 8)
Image

The highlight of the solo set for me was A Dream For Ian I've said it before and I'll say it again - such a sweet, sweet tone - Bill's guitar on this one :)

The Gus in action

The Fiesta Red Fender Stratocaster used to great effect on the cover Sleepwalk

The Space Mariner's Guitar

The Time Traveler's Guitar and Radium Girl

Bill using a 'Thingymabob' (I don't know what it's called  but I think he may have used it on the Sailor Bill album...... ), during the Orchestra Futura set
Image

Bill performing with The Gentlemen Rocketeers - playing that guitar 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)
Image

It really is something extra special to see Bill play Adventures In A Yorkshire Landscape on the Gibson in front of your very own eyes and ears. The sense of history and the emotion conveyed is hard to put into words........... The entire band were simply awesome on this song but Bill in particular was just great - his vocal was strong and his guitar playing...........superlative. Very special indeed 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

The Gentlemen Rocketeers in full flight
Image

So much has been written elsewhere about Nelsonica and how special it always is but it's not until you are there that you truly understand..................

The above photos of the event itself were kindly supplied by Big Dave (Sauropod) 8)

There was much hijinks to be had after in the bar but this has been covered elsewhere on the forum

So, when it says 'users browsing this forum Fellini plus 1 guest' it means you're stalking me

Considering your profile still exists, this guest stuff looks really dodgy. Normally I get excited hoping it’s Cuthbert.

I'd just like to make it clear, that's not my hand on Cawthorne's knee.
