Was re-listening to 'Optimism' after a long time away from it recently .

Such unique tracks full of surrealism, wonder, humour, grooviness and snazziness, nostalgia and enigma ....

The track 'The Breath From My Father's Saxophone' [track #8] is one of the greats and it got me to wondering, Bill, if you had ever jammed with and/or recorded your father on sax ?

That's what it sounds-like tone-wise but it certainly channels Ian Nelson .... in both soul and approach . I guess that shouldn't be surprising ...

Soulful, nostalgic, happy, ancient and modern pitch wheelin' . 8)

Figure the track gives us an audio photo' of Walter Nelson sax .

Zoinks .

I like all the '80s Bill .

The biggies of course, like Quit Dreaming and Get on the Beam, The Love That Whirls (Diary of a Thinking Heart), Demonstrations Of Affection (all of), The Two-fold Aspect of Everything, all fan-cub singles, Trial By Intimacy (all of) ... and anything/everything else from the '80s . That's six . Can't knock one off just yet to make a top five .

Fave track at the moment is 'King Of The Cowboys' .... otherwise maybe I could knock off the fan-club singles to make a Top 5 . :)

Top 5 off of the top of my head and a quick peek at the collection:

Astroluxe - Almost Opaque

Whimsy - Fabled Quixote

Return To Tomorrow These Tapes Rewind: Volume One - Discs Of Ancient Odeon

Getting The Holy Ghost Across (On A Blue Wing) Sonoluxe

Confessions Of A Hyperdreamer My Secret Studio Volume II - Populuxe

Of course there are 4 comps that I listen quite frequently to, plus one soundtrack.

The Dreamer's Companion Volume 1-3

Fantastic Adventures in the Twenty First Century - Emiko collection

The Last of the Neon Cynics

And somehow I missed listing:

Optimism

Practically Wired

Vistamix/Chimera

Jazz of Lights
