Hmmm ...

The groovy lounge music is nice albeit incongruously nice, methinks . 8)

I'll assume that's the River Calder in the background at the 0:40 second mark, even though it looks like a lake to me ?

Surprised anything's left of it after the Battle of Wakefield, Battle of Bosworth and The English Civil War .

The silhouettes of what is left of the castle are reminiscent of sculptures of both Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth .

The mound the castle is built upon makes me think the castle was built an already-existing pagan mound .

Any memories or thoughts on the place, Bill [and Geetar Homer] ?

Bloody hell we're not that old

Mound man made by Norman (second name unknown)
Typical Motte and Bailey (before Motte split and joined up with Hoople)
Water in background - Pugneys watersports* centre and country park
*not DJT type watersports
Battle of Wakefield - scenes re-enacted on Westgate most saturday nights
They lopped the Duke of Yorks 'ead off and stuck it on Micklegate bar in York, i don't think he was best pleased, but not an unusual sight as the nearest pub is a Wetherspoons.
Bits of castle in various houses round Sandal (they're all thieving Tories round there, natch)
Elvis Costellos mates knocked it down after the civil war and the second battle of Wakey.
This was where the New Model Army crusties beat the New Romantic fops because their top men were pissed as farts up at Heath Old Hall after a ten pin bowling match at Superbowl (the old Wakefield Theatre Club).
The ruins are still being attacked today by local scratters
Hope this helps
Yours Simon Schamas
